Piazza Italia Restaurant

I could not believe that review by Anon which is very contemptuous on this restaurant. We visit it at least once a month and over Christmas we were there about 4 /5 times with friends, families and work colleagues. They all love it . The restaurant was alway full when we were there. We eat out alot because of our business and travel lots in Europe. We find the food here always good if not fabulous. The house wine is one of the best we ever drank. They change it recently because the ones they use were out of stock. Actually this new one is even better.

Really awful Food. Can't believe they get away with charging these prices for something that looked and tasted like a very poor ready-meal- very dissapointed, service slow and felt cheated out of money.
They weren't even serving any Pizza. Would be amazed if the £14.00 house 'Merlot' we were given was the actual wine as this was pre-opened (not in front of us) and the cork was stuck back in bottle and it tasted watery.
The Salad was turning brown- NO garnish or sides offered with the lasagne.
Anchovies on bruschetta were pickled and tasted awful. Really can't say anything good.
ALL sauces looked like they had the same Orange tomato-like base that I can only liken to Heinz tomato soup, and the lasagne (also in horrible tomato soup sauce) was rubbery.
Other people's meals looked terrible too and my risotto was like boiled rice in 'heinz tomato soup' with very obvious pre-cooked chicken pieces thrown in.
There are far far better Italian eateries in Cardiff than this one. Would never reccomend. What a shame, it looked so nice from the outside. (Is there not a Zero star rating??)

we were recommended by friends to piazza italia. tell you what, one of the finest italian food we ever eaten and we travel quite a lot for businesses. on average we dined in piazza italia for 4 evenings out of the six days on a business trip to cardiff. the front of house is polish and attentive. we will recommend this reataurant to our business travellers when they come down to wales.

I'm a regular customer of piazza italia and i eat there at least two times a week and i never had to complain about anything. About the service, well, that one is the best I've ever recived in a restaurant and especially the spikey haired waiter he's the most polite person. Its busy every day!

Visited this Restaurant before the Madonna concert on 23 August - they obviously couldn't cope with the amount of people they had booked into the restaurant. The service was abismal, we had to wait ages for the food and when it arrived was not worth the wait. The taglatelle was not properly cooked, we were offered no black pepper, parmasen cheese etc and the side orders never turned up at all. When we complained the waiter just shrugged his shoulders and took the side orders off the bill. Another couple on the next table also thought the food was below average. Would definitely not recommend this restaurant or visit it again.

I did not enjoy my sole (and only) visit to this resturant. The food was ok but not what I expected for the price but what really got me down was the service. My food was brought in a rush and banged on the table as if I was not wanted there.
Can't say I will go back for the mediocre food either

My husband and myself enjoy every single moment in this restaurant. The food is superb and the dessert is out of this world. The service is very prompt and professional. Definitely without a doubt shall be returning.
