First visit to Bully's on 10th September 2011. Three of us went for Saturday lunch. We were the only table. This was a shame because the decor is great with a lovely ambiance and overall the food and service were very good, including feta salad, crab cake, and snails for starter; beef, rabbit, turbot main courses; and creme brulee and tarte tatin desserts. At £40 a head it's not cheap though, but was of the right calibre to justify the price. We had a very pleasant time. A few pointers though to make it excellent: the snails needed more flavour, the flageots beans needed to be cooked more, and the server needed to pay more attention to how he placed the plates. But these really are minor points for what was otherwise a very satisfying lunch. Well done!

This is a little gem of a restaurant.

The food is sublime and the restaurant has a friendly family at home feeling.

I only wish I could cook this well at home!

I am an insurance broker and work in London but have colleagues in Cardiff and visit from time to time. Having been to Bully's once before I was prepared to gamble on it the risk being taking both colleagues and a (very important to me) Underwriter at Lloyd's of London and their performance being poor!

Impressions last and I can assure every one that the right impression was made. In fact one of the Cardiff dwellers asked how a Londoner could unearth such an excellent venue.

The white onion soup was quality and the Welsh beef was fantastic. It is also unusual for restaurants to have quality armagnac on their drinks list and to be offered up a 20yo calvados was the perfect end to lunch before a challenging train journey back to London.

I've only given 7/10 for atmosphere but then again it was lunch mid-week so the restaurant wasn't that busy, hardly their fault.

The Underwriter wants to go there again and has hinted I need to be in Cardiff in February... quite happy to make the 300-mile round trip!

I am suprized to see the last review as my experience was without question the best dining experience I havve had in a long time. The food was absolutely faultless!! Not only that the wine list was extensive and supported the menu and the staff were so attentive. The owner took time to describe all of the menu to us and we weren't rushed at all throughout our meal. This restaurant is only a few minutes out of the city (by taxi) and is definately worth a special visit to cardiff! Do not be put off by the previous review and try it yourself. I have only been once but will definately be back!

Main course awful -fish plate grey and un-appetising, pork was tender but had no flavour whatsoever! At no time did anyone ask if we enjoyed our meal!
