I wouldn't bother!
We had booked table for 8pm. We’re didn’t get the first part of our drinks order until 8.50pm and it took until 9pm for everyone to have their first drink. It then took nearly 2 hours for any of us to receive a main course. When the main course finally arrived (in dribs and drabs over about 15 minutes), there was no cutlery (I had to actually get up and go and get us all cutlery as none of the staff seemed to think that we might require cutlery to eat!), dirty plates and the waitresses couldn't identify which dishes were which.
The attitude of the staff was TRULY TERRIBLE. When asked if the food would be much longer, the waitress replied, "yes actually, it will be longer, we are busy". When challenged by us that this was not acceptable and that other diners who were seated after us had already eaten, she replied, "ok. I will tell them to start cooking it now".
We had to ask several times for water and one of our party tired of continually asking for a further drink with no result and ended up going to the bar and getting it himself.
In an attempt to complain, we asked for the manager FOUR times he finally came over about 20 minutes later. Initially the manager was helpful, suggesting he get the main courses sorted and that he would sort out the bill at the end. After much negotiation, the manager agreed to take the desserts of the bill and discount it by 15%. However, when the bill finally came, the desserts had not been taken off. The manager cheekily pointed out that we did not have to pay the service charge (good really, considering that it is OPTIONAL) and that we had not brought the problem to his attention soon enough! He then said that he had not agreed to take the desserts off, accused my friend of being naive, and saying that we should just leave, and that he would pay the bill. He also said that we had only been there 2 hours - so no wonder he is incompetent at running a restaurant as he can't tell the time given that it was about 11.20pm by this time! However when my friend tried to leave he called her back and asked her name as she was trying to leave without paying. He then denied what he had said, saying my friend had accused him of being naïve, despite the fact that there was a lady from another party who had witnessed what he had said. Incidentally this lady also had the same complaint as us and that the restaurants shoddy service and tardiness had ruined her friend’s 21st birthday. She also stated that she couldn’t believe that the manager had spoken to my friend in such a rude manner and called her a liar.
After THREE AND A HALF HOURS we paid the bill minus desserts and 15%, with the manager muttering all the while that we should be grateful, that all he was trying to do was help, that he didn't understand why we were being like this etc... He even abused the customer who tried to help us.
The food was ok, but I would recommend you don’t waste your hard earned money going to this restaurant. I do not go out for dinner to be ignored, treated rudely, have members of our party insulted and called a liar and expected to have to pay for the privilege.

I have to complain about the disgusting service I received on Saturday night at the thai edge Cardiff restaurant.
6 friends and I visted Thai edge saturday night. We arrived at the restaurant and the waitress was very helpful and pleasant. We had to wait for our booked table but the restaurant was very busy so we did not mind. We ordered our drinks after quite some time and then waited for an hour before getting them.
When we were served the drinks we found the way they were served extremely annoying as we were very thirsty by this point and the 'manager' made it into a perfomance. We had ordered two £16 bottles of sparkling wine but he acted as if it was Krug Champagne. Giving chilling the glasses as the reason for the hour wait. We had wine glasses on the table and would have been happy with an ice bucket after waiting so long!!!!!!
We then had to wait a further hour before we were served our starters and the Water that we had ordered with the wine.
The Starters were yummy but after about 2hours wait I would have eaten anything.
When the waitress came to clear our plate i explained we weren't happy and the manager came over.. he was rude and not helpful at all. We said we could not wait any longer for our main courses as we were meeting friends and had thought two and a half hours would have been plenty of time to eat a meal.
He brought us the bill and tried to charge us for the main courses we had not been served. He was told that no way were we paying for these and seemed upset and annoyed himself. He then brought the bill back again with a 15% service charge on it. He was told that as we had not received any service we would not be paying for this either. Again he seem annoyed and argued with us.
I do not think the words customer service were in his or any of the staffs vocabulary and serious training is needed in this restaurant. I have eaten in the Thai Edge more than once and have always found the service slow and not very friendly but this was especially AWFUL!
I WAS AND STILL AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE EXPERIENCE WE HAD AT THAI EDGE.

My girlfriend and i called in to Thai Edge Cardiff on the 15th feb, my girlfriend is Thai and was really looking forward to a belated Valentines lunch, we had yellow curry Crab and Prawns, it was the worst we had tasted and we have spent a lot of time in thailand so know the food, to sum up, very bad food and when i told the waiter it was no good all i had was a vacant smile.
i know it's the land of smiles but please listen sometimes, on that day there was someone else who complained about the bad food

Excellent restaurant!!!
The authenticity of the waitresses in traditional dress, the precision and art of each dish being superbly presented! the waterfeatures and humble atmosphere give it an excellent romance for a first date or somewhere to impress.
I would definately recommend this restaurant. Although my visit was when the restaurant first opened I would hope the same care and attention is still given now! A*
