Ty Glas

Had dinner here last week and have to say its by far the best food I`ve had locally. I had fish and chips..the service was a bit slow but well worth the wait. Best fish and chips I`ve had in a long time. The staff were lovely so I`m really surprised to read some of the reviews on here.

I`d give it 10 out of 10. and highly recommend it.

I`ll definitely eat here again.

I regularly eat here sometimes in a big group and sometimes just with my other half. I always have a good time and enjoy the food. The manager is always very pleasant to us. The meat is always juicy and the desserts are pretty good too. If you just want some decent reasonably priced grub then I highly recommend this pub.

Well i've been here many times, mostly cause of the price. The food would either come to soon as in it was so obvious it was taken out of a package and shoved in the microwaved or it would take forever! The staff are just plain rude. The younger staff seem to be alright though. The place is pretty grotty and when I ordered mine and my friends food I ordered an italian chicken and a hunters chicken but when the food got to us I had ordered the wrong food my friend also wanted an italian chicken not the hunters I ordered for her, when my mate asked if she could swap it for an italian the staff member went and asked the manager who rudly said 'no because it had already been cooked' and the manager came storming all the way over gave me my plate back and said I couldn't swap it or have my money back cause it had already been cooked. This whole place needs a complete revamp and new manager!! Despicable!!

Went here for our lunch hour today. Most dissatisfied with the service and some of the food. As the term suggests we have an hour for lunch and went early before it became too crowded. We ordered straight away, some hot meals and two baguettes/wraps. 45 minutes later we still hadn't received our food and when we questioned why people who had arrived after us had been served well before us the explanation was that the wraps etc came from different parts of the kitchen and they were very busy as a large group was in. The group in question arrived well after we had ordered by the way. A colleague requested her food to be packed to take away as we had run out of time, this was done eventually but not without some huffing and puffing on the part of the staff. the food when it did arrive was hot and for the most part edible however the steak in the wrap was mostly gristle and would be inedible to anyone without their own teeth. We shall in future find somewhere else for our lunch hour.

My family and I ate here last night 12/05/2011 for my fathers birthday. I must say the woman behind the bar was miserable looking and rude. there were no manners. The waitresses who served the food were pleasant. The food was okay for the money. We wont be visiting again, unless the woman behind bar isn't there.

On May 14th I visited the Ty Glas for my daughter`s birthday and was most dissatisfied with the level of service.Well today I was taken back and treated to lunch by my family.What a difference. The restaurant has a new manager and he went out of his way to find a table to seat nine of us.We had to wait a while but that was to be expected on a busy Sunday.The manager kept us informed of the progress and eventually we were all seated and ordered our meals. The meals all came out together and were enjoyed by one and all. I approached the manager upon leaving and thanked him for his efforts. A nice day out was had by all. Full marks.

Last evening my wife myself and family (eight in total) visited the Ty Glas inn in Cardiff and we were not at all happy with the manners of the staff. We were given a table and told that the staff would clean and relay it. After waiting about 15 minutes one grandaughter went to order food and to ask for the table to be cleaned. A waitress came along , cleaned the table, but no cutlery appeared. After a while my food arrived . I asked the waitress for cutlery and serviettes. The rest of the order arrived in dribs and drabs. By the time the last meal had arrived I had almost finished mine.There was no complaint about the standard of the food,but the service could do with some reorganising.

I will have to dis-agree with the previous review. I recently ate at the Ty-Glas and can not praise the service enough. The staff were very welcoming when I arrived at the bar to order. The menu offered a wide range of options and was fantastic value for two meals at only £9.99 (Bargin). There was also a very extensive special's board which was also included in the offer. My choice was served in a very afficent time and manner. I would highly recommend eating at the Ty-Glas in it's very family friendly atmosphere.

when i first walked in it looked nice then we found a table and the menu had a fairly reasonable choice we went to the bar to order but there was no welcome from the staff and no welcome from the lady who served us. i ordered a starter wich was potatoe wedges with cheese bacon and sweet chilli sauce but i recieved the wrong sauce i asked the waitress to change it and there was no appology she didnt say anything i thought none of the staff had any enthusiasm i dont think any of them wanted to be there to be honest. i then had my main meal i had and 8oz burger and it was so over cooked it was dry and was like chewing on cardboard there was no flavour what so ever. i would not recomend this place to any one and i will not be going back for a first impression i thought it was very poor.
