Spice Island

We have previously used this restaurant on a weekly basis weather being for a takeaway or sit in meal..... Recently went there on New Years Eve (tradition that we have) and had an absolutely awful meal - told the staff that we weren't happy - they have known us as regulars over many years and they still did not amend the bill or give us anything as a kind gesture.

Will never ever be using this restaurant again - gone downhill over the last few months - chef changed once again!! If you like oil and no taste to your curry then by all means go there but otherwise absolutely disgusting.

This is the Don Corleone of indian restaurants. Make no mistake people and except no imitations, enjoy the spice and and indulge in the delights of the finest indian grub.

Can I say firstly what a useful website.

The Spice Island. Loved the food. The dips and pampadams were delicious so looked forward to our main meal.

I had a Boohna (chicken), excellent. other orders were Chicken Barani, Chichen Vindaloo, and finally a madras. Pretty varied choice and all very good. Service was just right without to much fussing about. Like other reviewers what's with the LOUD MUSIC !!. Come on surely you don't want your customers shouting at each other.

Spoilt a really good night, rather that talk about the nice food on the way home the main topic was loud music in restaraunts.

i went here last night the food was the best ive tasted beating all the other competion around cardiff but it let me down by 2 things them being i ordered chikken tikka missala very sweet creamy with a touch spice the guy laughed when i ordered it im not sure why as thats how i like my tikka done. 2nd they rushed to take my dips away mango chutney etc etc cause i said i like to use my nan bread wiv them as id used my popadoms wiv them to so then i said id like to leave them please as i use my nan bread wiv the dips and the guy looked at me a bit strange and laughed which kind of put me off. apart from that the food was incredible but could av done without the other. i have e mailed the restaurant 1st as well as this.

Weekday visit (wednesday). First timers in this one but visit lots of indian ressies all over Cardiff.

Love the food, Vindaloo was first class and the onion Bahjees are to die for. The wife went for a lamb Bhoona and enjoyed every mouthful. Thank you all very much for a pleasant meal.

One thing that let it down sorry guys, turn the music down. I don't want to shout at the wife over a meal .............. :o)

Exellent food, top service. If anything lets this place down is the very loud music. Come on guys, turn it down, we don't come in to shout at each other we can do that at home.

LISTEN TO ME AND LISTEN GOOD. spice island is the BOMB, I like to think myself as a connoiseur of indian food, ive been to them ALL. spice island is the ONE. have lamb madras, jinga e garlic, special rice, king prawn puree, onion bajee, and 2 popadom.

I've been using this restaurant for several years. The food is always top notch, and it's nice to find dishes on their menu that you don't see in other Indian restaurants. I can't recommend it highly enough.
