My wife and I went here for the first time in a year. It wasn't that we didn't like it, we just had not been out so much!

Anyway, it came as a surprise that the main restaurant was now downstairs in a much nicer laid out area.

We hoped that the food, a special Christmas selection, would be as good as we remembered, but it was even better.

With the friendly staff, a good drink selection, and great chinese teawe couldfault nothing. We have booked our next visit.

I've been going to this restaurant for nearly a decade, both to eat-in & take-away. I have gone to this chinese restaurant for so long because I was never ever anything but pleased with the food/service etc. Around 2 months ago I ordered a take-away for delivery. When the take-away arrived I was so genuinely shocked with the poor quality of the food that I had to check the receipt again to make sure I hadn't ordered from another take-away by mistake. The food was un-recognisable compared to every single time I had eaten from there before. Possibly a change in chef as I can't see any other reason for such a drastic change. The noodle-dish I ordered came with literally 8 noodles (I counted) & around two thirds of a tub of un-recognisable, non-descript slime. A sweet & sour chicken dish with 5 small chicken pieces in a congealed sauce. Spare ribs, of which there were 3, with not a morsel of edible meat on them. Satay pork - 5 small pieces of tough pork with a lumpy, gritty sauce & far too many vegetables (over 3 quarters of the tub). The food was cold, rubbery & distinctly re-heated (not fresh). I paid £26 for this & it literally all went in the bin. I was so bitterly disappointed that I didn't even bother to call them & complain - you know what you're putting in a tub before you send it out of the restaurant. You don't need telling that what you served me was absolutely diabolical. I haven't eaten there since & don't intend to again as I simply don't trust anyone who can package what I was delivered in to tubs & actually send it out to a customer.

I have booked the Phoenix Garden 2 a few times and before they refitted the Restaurant we had several large parties upstairs and I can say for both the old Upstairs Restaurant and the Refitted downstairs Restaurant it has been excellent.

I have come to know Annie Lee and she has treated us very well. I have arranged for a party of 120 and smaller groups of 40 or 25 and the food has been just perfect. Included in our previous bookings were Chinese People who were also very impressed.

Highly recomended - just ask you will be suprised of what they can do for you.

This restaurant represents the best value food in Cardiff, and I have never had a bad experience in all the years that "Annie" has looked after me.

I eat here every fortnight and also had a chinese new year / birthday party celebration. If it wasn't any good I wouldn't be a regular customer. I'm Chinese so I should know what good chinese food tastes like.

Annie is the manager and we've never had any problems. 2 of my fellow regular diners are fussy eaters (one has a gluten allergy) and nothing is too much trouble.

The refurbishment has made the seating area smaller but that isn't a problem. The £15 buffet is marvellous value considering the dishes are cooked fresh rather than being in keep warm troughs.

What a load of rubbish! Paid £30 and the only thing we enjoyed were the 2 bottles of coke. Honestly, hand on heart, the worst food I have ever eaten. Please do not eat here, you will be dissapointed! Bad bad bad.

The 'food' served in this restaurant is NOT edible. This place is seriously atrocious. I was served a plate of goo which I immediately informed the manager I would not be eating. She then told me I would have to pay because it was not her fault that i didn't like the look of the so-called food. The bill was then immediately produced, charging us for everything (which we hadn't even touched!). Of course, we did not pay for the food we did not eat. The management treated my girlfriend and I like dogs.

During our terrible experience here we also saw other customers making complaints about the quality of 'food' and service. A party of 4 left without paying and another 2 just paid for their drinks. DO NOT EAT HERE. THESE PEOPLE DO NOT SERVE REAL FOOD.

Do not go to this restaurant

It is NOTHING like what it used to be following its recent refurbishment

The buffet menu is way overpriced (£15 a head) for a selection of repetitive oversalted dishes with thick sauces.

The price we paid tonight (for one of the worst meals I've ever eaten in a Chinese restaurant) could've paid for a luxurious meal in a "proper" Chinese restaurant.
