Totally disagree with the last comments - this place is an institution and is the best place to eat in Cardiff. Great value home cooking - it's a must when you are next in Cardiff.

After being a occassional customer for over 25 years this is one place I wont be returning too. Food not good with very small portion sizes. Place smells damp and in generally in a very shoddy state.

Service from waiting staff was just ok but standards generally have really gone down, think the owner had lost interest in the whole place.

We would have had better in McDonalds and thats saying something.

love this restaurant, love the lamb chops, the staff are really nice and polite and the owners take a great interest in the place. our favourite eating place in cardiff, great wholesome food and the service is spot on. not pricey.

I've been eating in this restaurant since I was a kid. Now, everytime I visit cardiff this is the place I head for. Good, honest grub with none of this fancy rubbish that seems to be popular these days.5 star bar service (they serve Brains!). It's a budget restaurant so it won't break the bank, the only time I've ever seen something like this was in Paris. Top quality with great atmosphere and character. A++++

This restaurant offers a waitor service. At busy times you will need to be shown to a table. The restaurant fits into to the lower end of the scale, and is more accurately described as a "Cafe" in my opinion, although it must be made CLEAR that this restaurant is NOT a "greasy spoon" type establishment. The decor is dated and the whole place is a bit "lived-in".

The selection of food is adequate but limited, and offers good home cooking. If you order Chicken, Chips, Peas and Gravy, that's exactly what you will receive, just like you would make at home.

Also available are good old fashioned English Breakfasts, which you also order from the waitor once seated, but these are not "all day" so check the times first.

The service at this restaurant is totally excellent, in my opinion the service warrants a more upper class establishment. You will see the manager/proprietor around and you will notice his infectious entusiasm for excellent service. His customers are made to feel like his personal guests and he simply will not tolerate poor service.

You request your bill and stop at the cash desk to pay as you leave.

This restaurant is a Cardiff institution. Good honest, impeccably run a real step back to the classic restaurants of the 60s & 70s. Excellent value for money and great friendly service..... oh.. and the best fish and chips in cardiff!!!
