This place has the best atmosphere!! I have visited a number of times now and have always had a great time. The fresh fish and steaks are in glass counters, which look and taste amazing. The food is always very well cooked and the staff are very attentive, even though it has been busy most times we have visited. I will be visiting again soon and I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Really good quality food, Its a fabulous place to go, the staff are looking after you very well and its been a good restaurant ever since I started going there for Christmas occasions such as Work Christmas parties. The manager is great, he takes care of his staff and makes sure everything is running smoothly throughout the evening or whatever time of day you go whether its just for a drink. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely, just the aroma of the room with the open kitchen is something unique. The cooking skills of the chefs is to perfection. I had the Sea Bass the last time I went, It was cooked very well and I enjoyed it with a side of fresh cooked veg.
Its great value and I would recommend it to anyone that lives in Cardiff or comes to visit its just something you have to try.

After living in Cardiff for 3 years I thought it was time to try this place due to plenty of good reviews and the fact that I love fish.
The place itself is worth seeing. I always find an open kitchen great value because it adds to atmosphere and obviously lets you see how you food is being prepared. I have been to one of these counter style restaurants before and found that they present the food in the chiller much better than they cook it. Here my meal was cooked perfectly and there was plenty of it. The fish soup starter was superb also.
Downside, the steak that my wife had was not great and considering it was a £19 fillet that was disappointing - you should not get a fillet steak wrong.
Service was brilliant and comical. We had two waiters, one old pro who was charming and funny and one very young lad who was obviously learning his trade. Despite his nerves he did well.
Good times here, not the best place to eat in Cardiff but certainly up there and its location makes it perfect for a night out.

An absolutely disgusting experience having pre - booked our table we then had to wait 45 minutes after our allocated time then were treated no better than we were an inconvience to the staff the So called manager was rude and after we started to order we were told of another delay in the end we left without having food. I would certainly not go back there and have already told friends and colleagues not to go there.

Our wine was delivered to our table unopened, and we had to ask 3 times before someone returned with a corkscrew. The food we ordered off the special pre-concert limited menu was then delivered to our table incomplete.
The seabass was advertised as being served with a ginger and spring onion sauce, but was served bare. When we asked for the sauce the waiter took our plates again, despite our suggestion that we could just receive the sauce separately in a jug. A different sauce, the cream and prawn sauce that accompanied a different monkfish dish, was then thrown over our seabass without communication. This was unsuitable for my friend as she cannot eat dairy, and had chosen a specific meal that did not involve it. Our plates were returned to us by a very flustered sweaty man who claimed to be not only a manager, but a director, whose appalling manner can only be described as an arrogant pig.
He shouted at us for complaining, was very rude and aggressive, and informed us that he really didn't care. We ended up all eating at different times as things were returned seperately. Tried to order coffee but it never came. Even had trouble trying to get the bill to escape.
The other staff we encountered were polite but completely untrained and uncoordinated, other than the fantastic barman that we dealt with upon arrival. Would not recommend anyone to waste their time and money going here.
I completely agree with the other reviewer that they have got too big for their boots.

I ate here on a Saturday night. I can't fault the atmosphere or the environment - it felt like being in a laid back New York bar, but the prices were high and the cooking was slap dash. My scallops were fresh enough but came in far too much butter, which was congealed and lying in an unattractive pool at one side of the plate. The fish, baked in salt, was slimy and undercooked. The creme brulee was ordinary and hadn't been left under the heat for long enough. I think this place is too busy or too big for its boots.
