Harry Ramsden's Restaurant & Takeaway

we recently had a week off work and as i have never tried harry ramsdens b4 suggested me my husband and daughter go there for a treat as i thought they had always had a good reputaion, oh my what a mistake first off i asked if they had a vegetarian option for my daughter they said of course veg lasagne so we decided to sit down and order my husband and i had regular fish and chips with a starter each at an offer price of £9.99 first of all we were told the tomato soup had all gone minestrone would replace it, when it did eventually turn up a miracle tomato had actually arrived, then our regular fish and chips which was more like a fish bite than whole piece of fish the chips were edible but very dissappointing in taste and quality then my daughters veg lasagne turned up still frozen in the middle! by the time they had taken it back and obviously re microwaved it we had both finished our meals not a very satisfactory situation at all and the lasagne was by then still cold to the touch in the middle and unedible, obviosly they didn t have the cheek to charge the £9 for the lasagne but what a total dissappointment it was .

Bought cod and chips from the take away. It was disgusting. The food had been in the hot press for at least and hour. The box it was served in would not close so the food was cold by the time I got home to eat it which in the event I couldn't. I will vote with my feet and not go there again

Just visited Harry Ramsdens fish and chip shop takeaway in Cardiff Bay.
I ordered 1x large Cod and chips and 1x large Haddock and chips. The food was cooked to order but the size of the fish was no larger than the regular fish. I queried the size and was rather taken aback when informed that this was the usual size of the large fish. Having used this takeaway in the past I was extremely disappointed by the disservice I was being given .Nevertheless, I complained and asked what constituted large and small size and weight.. The reply given, some are thin and long and some are wide and short, was not the answer I was expecting . After some deliberation and as a compromise I was offered two regular sizes in place of the large fish I had ordered earlier.
Having finally received my meals, only to be further dissapointed by the taste and flavour of the so called Cod and Haddock, which begs the question was i really being served freshly caught Cod and Haddock, or was this some fish substitute? I'm sure Trading Standards would be interested if this was the case. Food for thought or not food for thought if you get my drift.

My sister-in-law and I went to Harry Ramsden's restaurant in Bournemouth the other day. I had been there before and wasn't over impressed but thought I would give it another go. The plaice I ordered would have been fine had it been filleted properly but it wasn't consequently it had quite a few bones. The chips were awful. My sister-in-law had the cod which for the price it cost was quite small. We didn't eat the chips and the tea I had wasn't very nice. So altogether we didn't enjoy it one little bit. We didn't complain in case they gave us a free meal.

In a word dreadful...and that's just the management. I witnessed one of the managers berate a staff member in the bar area. I was appauled. If that's what the young staff have to deal with then no wonder the service is so poor. Get experienced mature staff in management positions who have skills in customer service and can relate to their staff and patrons.
Besides this scene the food was awful. cold, soggy very unpleasant. Maybe you need a new chef as well.

Having eaten at Harry Ramdens for many a year I feeI I can apperciate good food and bad.I visited the Blackpool restaurant to find the decor has changed for the worse(no table cloth, latted bench seats) as has the standard of food(cold and soggy) and the cleanliness(dirty cutelery). Now being run by cheap foreign labour.
Did complain to headoffice, implied I was living in the past and this is the future.Well in future I shall not be patronising them at £12 a head for fish chips.
