I visited the Cardiff restaurant with my son on Monday 31st March 2008, during a visit to the city.

My son had an interview at Cardiff University and had he not been with me, I would have made several complaints, as follows;

There were NO MUSHY PEAS available! So I ordered garden peas.

The cup for my tea was dirty, in that I had to remove the 'tide mark' from the inside rim with a napkin.

We had to wait a good 15 minutes for our order, despite there being no more than 10-15 people in the restaurant.

When our order arrived, the waiter had forgotten the peas. This took a further 5 minutes as I had to remind him a second time.

By this time the food on my (cold) plate was itself cold.

The chips were NOT fresh and had the texture and taste of chips that had been re-heated from a previous fry.

The bread and butter had a taste of garlic!

All in all - NOT a good experience and I begrudged the £20.23 payment for the meal.

As stated earlier, if my son had not been with me in his pre-interview nervous state, I would have complained bitterly and demanded a replacement meal or probably a full refund.

I have visited Harry Ramsden's in Salford/Manchester many times and have eaten at the Guiseley before franchising came in. I have never had a bad meal from this company - UNTIL LAST MONDAY.

Visited Cardiff today, Sun. 24th Feb 2008.at 14.30hrs

Greeted by an ignorant, uncareing Trainee Manager, to be told there would be a 30 min. wait, for a table for 3,, despite there being 15 , empty tables, ( which remained empty during our wait ), despite being told, they were reserved, and, staff were on lunch break.

Waited ages, for our order to be taken, and, for the food.

The chips were bitty, some had eyes in. The bread and butter, which we ordered, didn't come, and had to be re ordered, then the crusts and edges of bread were far from fresh, had to wait for milk to be brought, to accompany the long awaited pot of tea, the fish, was no better than your average corner chippy.

Wont return.

We visited Harry Ramsdens at Cardiff Bay yesterday with our grandchildren, after ignoring their parents warnings of it not being that clever, only because i had already purchased Tesco deal vouchers. The first thing I discovered was that the vouchers did not cover drinks of any kind only food a rip off in itself. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told ther would be a half-hour wait for a table for four although there were about half a dozen empty tables. When we eventually sat down i asked for the childrens menus only to be told there were none available so the waitress reeled of a few kids meals . My grandson ordered a pizza and when it arrived we could not believe the size of it was about six inches in diameter. The rest of the meal was pretty much the same when we finally got it after about an hour the so called special cod and chips was obviously frozen and Harrys special pie was rubbish. We realized after why the meal took so long, it was because they had to pop to Iceland to do the shopping.all in all a bad meal at a very extortionate price.

Service was unbelievably poor, half the food was off the menu, food arrived with portions missing, drinks ordered weren't there and were replaced with others without consultation. Waitress wasn't informed about the menu, money taken at the end ofg the meal without a smile or comment. Never ever again!

And the bins outside stank!

Clearly changed management since the last reveiwer.

We visited Harry Ramsden's this past June, and had fish & chips for the first time! It was THE BEST! The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was excellent, and they play really good music on the PA system besides. :) Definately coming back here! Cheers! p.s. we ticked the box below hoping '10' meant the best rating!
