We went there on a Saturday evening and it was very busy. The service was very poor. It took them a long time to take the order, get some drinks and when the food did come, there was some of the order missing, despite them confirning our order. This happened to the people on the table next to us too. A group of girls came in and must have waited 30 mins for drinks and menus. The food that arrived was good but the poor level of service just spoilt it really. It was really cold in there too and lots of people kept their coats on!

I'm quite fond of the Happy Gathering, and have been going for years, though I also eat at other Chinese restaurants in Cardiff. I find the menu is pretty extensive at the HG, service normally swift and friendly, and I like the fact that such a cross-section of the community uses it. It's rarely quiet, and has a lively atmosphere. I've been for dim sum twice, but it was much better the first time. I'd recommend the HG for a pleasant, moderately-priced meal.
