i've recently just visited this place for a meal and ive never in my life had to eat my lasagna with a sppon as it was so runny my fork had nothing to grip onto. my partners meal was even worse it was cold and swimming in water where they had not drained the rice properly. it was a bad experience id never recommend this place to eat from and if you're a vegetarian you have no hope of getting a good meal. when we complained the manager had such a strop it was like watching a 4 year old boy having a tantrum.

Had a meal on Saturday, 26 July, when we went out we only had £20 notes - I paid for the meal using 2 £20 notes (the meal came to £23...) the waitress brought the change back to us as we were just standing up to leave - it was in a black wallet and I just picked it up with the receipt which was on top of the change and left (I never normally do this).

When at home I went in my purse for the £10 that should have been in my change and it wasn't - I had been short changed by £10. I immediately phoned and spoke to the manager who asked me "what do you want me to do about it" I suggested he checked the takings with the till and he would be £10 over and I could have my money back - he stated that "it doesn't work like that "- they have no way of checking the food till only the bar takings and as I had left the pub there was nothing he could do (there isn't a sign up stating that if you leave mistakes can't be rectified later).

I have complained to Marstons about this and his attitude, they have emailed back to say that he checked the takings that day and the next (someone is lying) and that they have spoken to him about his attitude. I know it was silly of me not to check my change but his attitude wasn't very pleasant and I will not be returning!

without rambling on for ages, because there would be lots to complain about, I was pretty much unsatisfied with my experience here. waitress unattentive and forgetful. she gave us the wrong meals which we didnt realise till alf way through as they were both steaks with cooked differently with similar sauces, we had to ask more than once for things that were supposed to have been brought with the meal. The place was so cold I had to wear a coat. Will not be making a return visit.

I would agree with the comments of Mr. Long regarding new management. Having been a customer of the Ffynnon Wen for over 5 years this week upon visiting, my entire party recieved and ate their meals before mine had arrived... despite me asking staff to find my meal! Upon complaint to the manager (who was earlier in the visit publically rude abusive, swearing towards his staff) I was refused a refund and told to leave and not return!

The food recieved by my party was unsatisfactory and tasteless.

Lovely picturesque pub on the outskirts of Cardiff. Large patio and beer garden ideal for the summer.

We sat in the restaurant area and the waitresses that looked after us were lovely.

The added bonus with the menu is that all the meals are 2-4-1, all the time I think, so that our meal for 4 was fantastic value. Compliments must go to the chefs too as our steaks were superb. Lovely pint of Bank's real ale too.

The restaurant was quite busy with a mix of people and seemed quite family friendly.

I would definitely recommend this pub and use it again.

i have used this restaurant /pub for over 6 years. Now seems to be under new management and has taken a turn for the worst. They now seem to have a policy of asking for proof of age if a customer looks under 21 in the restaurant . I ordered a beer for my 29 year old son and the young waitress asked him to produce ID. I complained to the manager who backed up the waitress adding "its company policy" after trying to reason with the manager we were asked to leave. So if you visit the Ffynnon Wen dont forget your ID if you want a drink with your meal.
